choke is a solenoid valve located on throttle linkage side of engine. it has a small red lever on the side of it for manual operation. Its operated by pushing ignition key in while cranking. hope that helps

it also has a fast idle lever. Make sure you raise it during cold start. it opens up the throttle and advances the timing for easier starting.

The solenoid stairlift is talking about is actually and electric primer. On many later model OMC motors there is no choke, instead there is a primer which squirts fuel into the carb throats for cold starts.

Thanks for the help. Now, the next problem I am having is...I just changed the VRO pump and the motor will crank and spark fine, but does not start. Any suggestions on what to do?
