I have an Envirude Starflite 85HP 2 stroke engine Model #85293R and I don't have any spark. I'd like to buy a repair manual but I don't know the year of this engine. This model has the push button controls for forward, neutral, & reverse. At the controls it's in neutral which allows me to turn the engine over however I believe it's stuck in gear because the prop spins when turning it over and I'm guessing there must be a secondary fail safe mechanism at the engine which prevents it from starting when in gear. It was running fine a year ago however I was having trouble shifting it and I discovered that was related to a broken plastic safety plate in the shift controls which simply prevents one from shifting it into gear at higher rpm's, anything past "Start" on the throttle.
Hello hook and welcome to iboats. If you can post the model number, we can tell you the year or give a look at the link below.http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/evinrude/You probably have a 70 to 72' year. In these models, they will allways be in forward gear until the engine is started. And as you probably already know, you have an electric shift lower unit.No spark....give a look at the FAQ forum on the menu page. There is a good FAQ on "no spark" which should help you. If you have any questions, give us a post.
