Hello All,
Here is what I am up against. I have a 9.9 1976 Johnson outboard. It ran good but I thougth what the heck new spark plugs wont hurt, so I went to a local auto parts store to buy new plugs the old ones in the motor was a Champion 7 plug so they cross refrenced them and gave me a new champion plug I installed them in the motor then it wouldnt start at all. come to find out the the depth of the new plug is about half of the old #7 that was in there so I went to put the old ones back in and they had already (by someone else) been thrown away. So now the motor wont run and my local boat shop said the deeper 7 plug is no longer made. Has anyone ever ran into this? And what should I do.

Thanks Very Much in advance
Scott
St.Louis Mo

Scott....I believe the plug you need to be using is a Champion L82C set at .030.

'76 9.9 has "low tension" ignition... uses UL81J plugs... or UJ81J gap'd @.030"
