Used Stator, good idea?

I own a 1981 35hp Evinrude and the stator went bad on it. I've been calling around and a new stator is about $225 - $250. I can get a used one for about $100 - $125, but I don't know if thats's a good idea. If anyone knows of someone that they recommend for me to buy this part from, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

Stators seldom go bad, so if the folks that sell you a used one will warranty that it works, and it looks physically unscathed, I would feel comfortable with a previously working stator. I don't normally like to buy used parts likt that for more than 1/3 the cost of new tho...but make your best deal and run with it...just a thought :)
