Default evinrude v4 110 over heating

I replaced the water pump and all seals and such with all the good stuff. Now Im not getting any water to the top I guess. I suppose I done it righ.......? The rear pee hole is clear. But theres no water coming out of it.This kicker has set for atleast two years that I know about. Im wondering if dirt dobbers aint plugged it up.Honestly I didnt check the upper tube nor the upper exauste holes for pluggage. My big question is...where exactly is the thermostats located in this motor? Are they located before or after the large valvecover looking gimmic on the rear of the motor?Should I remove the lower unit and blow out the ports or is there something Im missing?

The thermostats are located on the block, in the rear under the "bubble" looking thing, between the cylinder heads. The two hoses going from the cylinder heads down to the lower part of the engine connect to the thermostat housing.I'll tell you right now, they are a ^&*(^%$ to get at.I would re-pull the lower unit and check my connections before I attempted the thermostat housing.

If you had water before you did the pump, chances are that you misaligned the copper tube in midsection with the outlet in water pump, when pushing lower unit back in midsection. I'd check that first, if you isnt perfectly sure. If it is misaligned, water wil exit at a couple of drainholes down the midsection, instead of going to the powerhead.

Is the motor actually getting hot or is it just that no water comes out of the tatteltail?

At some point you need to replace the thermostats and as DJ indicated they are a bit%ch to get at BUT they can be done by the driveway wrench. I did my 110s last year.

A quick check to confirm stuck thermostats is as follow (if it turns out the copper tubes are OK). Pull those two rubber hoses going from the heads to the thermostat block, then fire up the motor (in the water or on the flushmuffs). You should get water running out of the heads now, where the hoses were, and the motor should run cool. If not, you're not getting water pumped up to the powerhead. The thermostats keep the water in the powerhead until it gets warm enough, then they start dumping some (if acting correctly).Good luck, and post back if my explanation is too garbled.
