Timing is done using the mark on the flywheel that lines up with the one on the crankcase. The distributor (has the plug wires on top) pulley has a notch in it that lines up with a cast "line" on the distributor bracket.

If you have a magneto system (plug wires are on the bottom), the pulley notch or red painted tooth (on some models) lines up with the safety switch on the bracket.

Ok,i will look for the notch on the 60..i know 75 has one with mag. Where does the rotor button point? can i set the timing when the no.1 points open? does the rotor button point to the no.1 plug tower?
