Default 1997 25 HP Evinrude smokes when hot

Hi,My engine starts very easily. idles nice, runs fine and seems to be working fine in every way, except for one thing:About 5 minutes after I have startet it - or as soon as it gets working temperature - it starts smoking. This started a couple of months ago, and I have tried to figure out why but with no luck. Spark plugs looks nice, so I don't think it gets too much fuel. Can it have anything to do with the coolig system? Water coming into the exhaustsytem.Any suggestions? Thanks.

When was the last time the water pump was serviced? If you don't know-it's due.You may also want to do this. http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ul...;f=36;t=000016

Water pump is new. Decarbing has been done. But I'm beginning to beleive it's not smoke, but vapor. I so, then it must be sort of lekage somewhere. Ok - water should flow out together with the exhaust, but as water, not as steam.Perhaps a gasget or something is leaking?

The vapor or steam you see may be due to running in cooler/colder climates. As long as its coming out the exhaust ports and not the "stream" hole.It would make sense since you said it happens after the motor warms up.What kind of water temps are you operating in?

Water temp vary from 5 degrees in winter to 23 degrees in summer (celsius). Not bad for seawater in Norway If I'm correct there should come exhaust out thru the propeller and from a hole under the back of the motor. Cooling water flows out together with the exhaust and a couple of other places. It from the hole under the back of the motor that the steam is comming. When the motor is cold it just comes a little bit of water, but once it's hot it starts "smoking".
