Hi, We just bought an old Seacraft with a Johnson 40 hp. We are not able to even find the serial number or model number, or maybe we are just not looking in the right places, any suggestions on where to start to find the year? It does start up but we have been told it needs impeller and we will buy a manual, as soon as we can figure out what year it is..thanks in advance.

Depending on the year, there should be a plate on the front center portion of the swivel bracket just above the transom with the model and serial number.

Or... on the port (left) transom bracket.

Also, there should be a quarter size core plug on the powerhead with those numbers. Needed is the "Model" number.
