1978 johnson 115 no crank

Hello I have a 1978 johnson outboard 115 i took it out on the lake for the day while driving i noticed a smoldering smell i cut off the motor and the smell was coming from the box it was the warning buzzer it melted completely just the buzzer thuogh no wires replaced it but now when i turn the key nothing happens i can jump the snoid on the moter and get crank but the one on the side of the boat near the battery i jump and that operates the tilt and trim am i missing something simple that i didnt check no wires were melted in the box at the ignition . any help appreciated thanks

There is an inline fuse in your motor wiring harness. Its a little red torpedo looking deal. check that fuse. Sould be somewhere near your starter solenoid.

Thank you very much walker i just went out there and found the inline fuse and it is blown it was exactly were you said just a different color . god bless
