Does anyone have, or know where I can get, a good replacement clutch dog for my '58 Johnson 18?<br />From the state of the prop when I got my engine, and the ears on the clutch dog, it's obvious that a previous owner hit something pretty hard, there was a chunk out of one prop blade which I've repaired, and the clutch dog ears are chewed on one side.<br />I'm going to turn the dog around so the good side engages the forward gear, on the basis that I'll be using forward a lot more than reverse, and reverse will be used at much lower revs so hopefully it won't jump out of gear.<br />Ultimately though I'd like to replace this part, my OMC dealer says he can get one as a NOS part but it will be expensive, VERY expensive!<br />I'm sure these parts are more plentiful in the US than they are over here, I'd be happy with a good used one, it doesn't have to be new though I'd consider a new one if it's not too expensive.
