Okay, '71 Evinrude 60hp again. Ordering new shift solenoids, one blew. Tach also not functioning. And what did we find? Out of control voltage and the red wire off the voltage regulator burned up. So there's the root of the problem. Questions:<br /><br />a) Does something cause the regulator to go, should I be checking elsewhere with the meter?<br /><br />b) What's the box to the left of the regulator that has something that looks like a polyurathane layer on top? Are cracks bad?<br /><br />Thanks again...
