Upon disconnecting my VRO a wrench told me to premix 1 pint of oil for every 6 gallons of gas.

So what I typically do is buy gas in 12 gallon increments, since oil is usually sold in quarts and I like to keep it simple. Occasionally I use half a quart bottle if I want to just put 6 gallons in, etc.

At the gas station I purchase 1 quart of two-cycle marine oil (TCW-3 I think) for every twelve gallons of gas. I pour the oil in the fuel port on the boat and then follow it with gas. Then I drive 30 miles or so to the ramp.

Is this method of mixing adequate? I figure during the drive to the ramp the gas mixes with the oil.
