I have a 1986 8 hp Johnson that won't stay running unless a pump the ball on the fuel line. The ball on the fuel line never stays hard.The fuel tank is brand new but the fuel line is a year old. Do I just need to replace the ball on the fuel line or is there something more serious.

At least replace the bulb. There is a check valve in it that may not be doing its job.
