I just bought this 4 hp johnson model j4brhcob and it runs great but I can't tell if the water pump is working. On other motors you can see them pee but I don't see where it would come from on this . Any ideas would be appreciated since I would hate to blow such a sweet little motor. Also it say the fuel/oil mis is 100 -1 is that right?

Hi NFRY,
Your motor should have several small holes on the lower leg of the motor, above the waterline. You should get a mist of water out of these holes, with the majority of the water exiting with the exhaust out the rear of the lower unit...
- Scott

Hi again...
Almost forgot.... Run your motor on a steady diet of 50:1 mixture. OMC sent out a service bulletin that shelved the 100:1 mixture that had been recommended for a few years in the late 1980s/early 1990s. It turned out that it just wasn't enough oil afterall....
- Scott
