Paint coming off

Greetings,<br /><br />I have a little Johnson 50 on my boat. I fish mostly in brackish water. The paint where the seam in lower unit just above the A/C plate is coming off, and the metal underneith is corroded. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Would an annode help?

A horseshoe anode on the leading edge of the anti-ventilation plate will inhibit further corrosion but you should probably sand and prepaint the area with some good anti-fouling paint first.John/Rude dealer sells all of the optional sacrificial anodes for that engine.Boaters world also carries some that may work.
