wiring diagram 40hp elec.,1966

Has anyone got the wiring diagram for a 1966, 40hp,electric start Evinrude? Jast got a used one on a 16 ft. alum. and the wiring is all goofed up. It will start with the key but not shut off. The way the old owner stopped it was by idling the back till the motor died. This means I can't get enough rpms to get the boat up on plane. Any help I can get on how it is suppose to be wired will be of great help. It does have the harness. Only two wires are hooked up to the start switch. :( Milford1971@aol.com
