Hey guys,

I had heard somewhere that there is a rev limiter on my 2000 Evinrude Ficht 75hp that would stop the engine from reving over 5250 which is max recommended W.O.T. Is that true? The reason I'm asking is because I got a comprop for it and if I hit something with the prop and the blades break will the engine over-rev?

Thanks

Re: 2000 Ficht 75hp Rev Limiter

Ficht Guy.....There is a rev limiter on most engines but I doubt that it is at 5250, maybe 6250. Most engines need to be propped to run as close to 6000 as possible. If I were you I would just plan on not hitting anyhting, but if you do the rev limiter will protect the engine, that is it's job. The limiter would probably be the least of your worries anyway if you hit something at WOT. Good luck.
