what year is this johnson 25hp, i have only the serial?

J2679596 the very little i know about is is this, its manual start, its tiller steered with NO steering/tilt tube and its "an older one, but clean" <br /><br />thats it<br /><br />johnson 25hp<br /><br />thanks...and please, if/when youanswer this, please let us know how we can find it ourselves next time!!! we want to L E A R N

Evening, Mike. I'm figuring it's '66. Go over to The Old OMC Site for a visual confirmation from their catalogs. If I'm right, it must be a 20hp instead of a 25, since no 25hp was offered that year.<br /><br />Search this forum for J268, J267, J266, and J26 and you'll see pretty quick how it works - UBB's search sort of ignores whitespace. Some years are easier than others - mid-70s Canadian C7****** ones seem easiest, which is fortunate since they seem to loose their plates a lot. On the other hand, I can't get that C8****** serial number down below.
