hi. im back.
1972 evinrude 50hp twin cylinder. wont take fuel.

just replaced water jacket and exhaust cover. new plugs, champion ql44jc at .030 . rebuilt the carbs and replaced fuel lines. put everything back together today. check for spark, spark is good. with plugs removed, and cranking, fuel does not shoot out the plug holes. i know it should. if i spray pre-mix into the carb throats, it THEN shoots out the plug holes.fuel bulb remains tight during entire process

before i tore it apart and replaced these new parts and rebuilt the carbs and such, it started easy and ran fine, but was getting water in lower cylinder( hence the replacing of the exhaust cover)

what ideas do you guys and gals have . could i have done something wrong during carb asembly to prevent fuel from passing. sounds like fuel pump, but it work just fine before. and wouldnt it atleast start and run till the fuel in the bowls ran dry if it WAS the fuel pump???

help in florida

m ikey

Re: 50hp wont take fuel

Mikey.....did ya' set the float levels to spec and make sure they were free to move up and down closeing and opening the needle?

Take and disconnect one of the fuel lines from one of the carbs and crank the engine. Gas should spurt out the end of the hose.

Bulb pump up nice and snug? Primer bulb arrow pointing towards the motor?

Gotta be something simple.

Re: 50hp wont take fuel

your right, it was something simple
# i had the fuel lines routed backwards
#2 i had the black and white wires crossed going to the powerpack, therefore it made the timing 180 degrees out. fixed it. thanks
