Help! Evinrude 15hp 1975, Engine refuses to fire-up! New Plugs, Checked for spark & ok, reset points & timing cleaned up stripped carb & ok, don't seem to be any fuel getting through!! checked fuel filter ok, and fuelled up! We can only think that our compression is too low! 50lbs + 55lbs would this cause pump not to work? Would appreciate any advice. Model 15554C (1975 I believe) :(

when you cleaned the carb did you use carb cleaner and blow air through all fuel passages

If your compression readings are accurate that could certainly be the reason it won't fire. Besides not having enough compression it doesn't have enough vacume on the upstroke to suck fuel from the carb.

Hi,<br />Thanks for the advice, soaked the carb and fuelways until it came through and out the plug holes, but stil refuses to fire!!, maybe it's simply the compression or lack of it? Is there an overhaul kit available for this engine?
