1985 40 hp Johnson Water Pump

Can anyone tell me how to remove the lower unit from my 1985 40 hp Johnson? I have removed the 4 bolts from the sides of the unit and the larger bolt from the rear center of the unit and it is still just as tight as was when I started.<br /><br />Thanks

Remove the trim tab and there should be another bolt under it.If your 40 has remote controls ,you'll also need to disconnect the shift rod.
