I have purchased an evinrude 115 model# 115el76d serial# J4570677 but am unable to get started. I have spark on the #2 cylinder only. I am working with a manual and have read through some of the different posts and tried several tests although I do not have an ohm meter and this is were I am.

tested and cleaned all spark plugs (all good)
disconnected the cut-off switch from power pack(no change).
tested all power wires to timer sensor coil from terminal board (all good).
checked all wires on power pack for good connection and no broken or bare wires.
the #7 & #8 charge coil wires on the power pack have power when turning engine over.
swapped #2 coil with #4 on power pack(spark on #4 plug only)swapped back.
swapped #2 sensor with #4 sensor (spark on #4) plug only) swapped back.

From what I can tell the timer sensor coil under the flywheel is bad, is this correct or is there something else I should check or that it could be before I go and try to find this part.

Thanks
jason_neagle@yahoo.com

Re: spark on #2 cylinder only

You have the same motor I have (76), and given the symptoms you describe, I would suspect the power pack.
However, this motor requires extreme battery power to starter, so you need a fully charged, powerful battery to get the RPM to generate a spark.
Since there is no real load with the plugs out, pull them ALL and ground them to the block so that you can watch for spark while someone turns the ignition.
