I have a Evinrude 150hp OceanPro. When slowly shifting into reverse, I get a terrible grinding noise. The noise stops when you give it throttle. Any ideas on what is causing the noise, and possible solutions? Thanks in advance...

T

Howdy Dredlus and welcome to ibpoats.

Now, stop shifting "slowly".
When shifting into forward or reverse, shift with authority. Jam it into gear quickly. That grinding noise you hear is the clutch dogs eating themselves up. If you've been shifting "slowly" for some time, change your gear lube and you'll see metal shavings which are the scraps from the clutch. ;)

g'luck & c/6
Hooty

Hooty's right those things are designed to run in or out not half way shifting slow isn't being easy on it, it's tearing up your lower unit.
