My engine seems to run great (37 knots at 4000rpm) but it stalls at idle when warm (dangerous when docking). My marina says the compression check shows a weak cylinder and they want to tear it apart, but it seems fine with no loss of power. If a cylinder's bad, would I notice a loss of power or rough running? Any other possible reasons for the stall? It's been doing this for years and I've always thought it was an idle issue.
thanks danielr. Also, wondered if there is more than a 15psi difference between two of the cylinders, will it harm the engine to run it for the rest of the summer and then fix it in the fall?
