1979 evinrude 55hp 5000 rpm..

Hello every one its been a while I posted well I went on my camping trip and took my 1978 sandollar 15' tri-hull, 1979 evinrude 55hp motor and the most rpm I could get out of it is 5000 rpm I'm running a prop size 12-1/4X15 and if there is a better size prop could you please give me some info thanks! :D P.S I took of my hydrofoil stabilizer and it runs great with out it!!

Both of those scenarios tell us the motor could be raised. The low mounting is causing excess drag which robs you of rpm. With the motor mounted low the fin will cause drag which further robs you of performance. It would not suprise me if the boat even handled slightly better without it.<br /><br />Try raising the motor and see if you gain some rpm and performance.
