I am attempting to replace my water pump. I have a 1992 60 hp evinrude. I think I have removed the retaining pin to release the Drive shaft. I have loosened all bolts. The lower will not budge! Any suggestions? Is there a trick for disconnecting the drive shaft? Can the lower unit fuse?

Yes, you've got to disconnect the shift rod just under the carbs, a 1/4 inch drive with a swivel and you can get to it.

Also Bruca there is a bolt that you may have missed underneath the steering tab.

Looks like a fin on the bottom of the lower unit. Remove that fin bolt from underneath and then look for another bolt up in the cavity and remove it. The pin, trim tab, bolt under trim tab and 4 bolts that secure the lower unit is all you should you have to remove to drop it down.
