During applying power the engine hesitates, power goes up then by it self goes back to idle. It has done this a couple of times in the past but cleared itself and was fine after. Now does it all the time. I noticed that the primer bulb goes flat and if I pump the bulb the power goes back up. Would anyone have sugeestions what the cause could be?

Thanks
Ratsirt

Could be fuel tank vent is clogged. Anti-syphon valve could be bad at the tank. Pump is working or it wouldn't pull the bulb flat. Are you using an OMC bulb? The generic ones are junk. Try running a portable 6 Gal. tank, with a new bulb and lines and see if that cures it. What happens if you hit the choke for a few seconds?

If you choke it and it starts to die off, the pump is good. No change, pump is bad.

Might check the pickup in the fuel tank, it has a strainer on the bottom if it's plugged that could be your problem, how old are your fuel lines? they might be soft and sucking together. or as already stated check the tank vent.
