novice boater..dumb question..85hp Johnson<br />what is considered the "cavitation plate"?<br />Just installed cmc pt-130 and must adjust<br />height of engine so cavitation plate is 1" to 3" above bottom of boat.

The cavitation plate, or anti-ventilation plate, is the large horizontal "fin" that is about 2 inches above the propeller blades.<br /><br />It is the lower red line on this diagram.<br /> http://www.iboats.com/ref/shaft_length.html <br /><br />I would start with it 0-1 inch above the bottom.
