When my engine is cold it jumps out of forward gear, after holding in for a while it will stay in gear any Ideas?

Is this a tiller or remote control motor??

It is a remote and I have adjusted the linkage even to the extent of removing it and shifting manually

kenjudy, check the gear lube for any sparklers in the oil or water infiltration. The problem sounds like the lobes on the clutch dog/forward gear may be going south.
