1981 evenrude 200HP alarm keeps going off?

1981 Evenrude 200HP Outboard:<br /><br />After runnning the engine for about 10 minutes the overheat alarm keeps going off?<br /><br />Water comes out the pee hole OK and is only warm to touch.<br /><br />I'm thinking I may need to replace the thermostats?<br /><br />Any suggestions?<br /><br />Also were do I go to buy a 1981 evenrude thermostat?<br /><br />Thanks for the help.

That engine also has a fuel restriction warning which is the same as the overheat warning, a steady constant beep. This indicates that you have a fuel restriction between the engine and the fuel supply, usually at the tank. See the following.<br /><br />(Anti Siphon Valve)<br />(J. Reeves)<br /> <br />Check at the built in fuel tank connection where the rubber fuel line attaches for a "Anti Siphon Valve". It will be (usually) aluminum, about 2" long, and the inner components will consist of a "Ball", a "Spring", and a "Ball Seat". These valves are notorious for sticking and causing a fuel restriction. Remove the valve if it exists, knock out the inner components which converts it to a straight through fitting, then re-install it. If you're uneasy about converting that valve to a straight through fitting, then simply replace it.

We ahd the same thing happening with our 200hp. Just got it back and what i twas is the thermostats were bad. Easy fix, happy boating!!!!
