I have a 1988 OMC Seadrive 2.7. The foot will not drop. I am trying to replace the water pump. I have taken the shift linkage loose at the top, the bolts on the side, the 2 at the rear, including the one under the tab. The foot will wiggle, but not drop ANY. It feels like maybe the shaft is rusted into the crank. Any help would be appreciated. <br />Thanks

This has come up before but sorry I don't remember what suggestions were offered. You may find them by rumaging around in past posts using the red search at the top of the page.

Re: 2.7 seadrive with stuck foot

The '88 is a 3.0l by my info, I also have an '88 which is a 3.0l. 2.7l was listed as an '87. As for the shaft, there are instructions (Solec book) about drilling a hole in the mid section and using a torch to cut the shaft. Then remove the power head and pull the left over stub and install a new shaft.
