I have a 1986 Johnny, and I would like to try my brothers 1995 or possibly 1996 Rude,,,would it be as simple as plugging in all the harnesses.
Both motors have trim/tilt. I currently have a 90 hp on a 19 ft. aluminum boat,I want to see what his 115 will do,,,what is everyones opinion,,,mainly looking for speed.

the controls will cross over - just not sure the VRO alarm will work.

Did you try JB´s Speed formula ?

With your permission JB:

Quote:

There is another formula for predicting top speed if ideally propped and trimmed.

Prop HP=A
Boat gross wght.=B
Bottom factor=C: 180 for V bottom, 200 for nearly flat, 225 for Flat.

Take the square root of A/B and multiply by C.

Example: My Montauk has 70hp, weighs about 1900lb. with max load. 70/1900 =.037. Sq. rt of .037 =.19,
Nearly flat bottom factor, 200 X .19 = 38.4mph.

GPS WOT reads 38.5mph

Morning (here in N.E.)
I wish I were at work, and I could tell you for sure...change over year for the wiring was 1996.Control cables will work, but wiring harness will need an adapter harness.
Pull both notor covers.Your motor will have a large round red plug-in connector. If the 115 is a '96,you'll find very different connections, necitating the adapter.DHP
