I have an '84 150 V6 Rude. I recently bought what I though was the right impeller kit(BOMB part no. 5001594), but to my surprise my shaft does not have the machined flat part for the plastic key in the kit. The shaft on my engines has a machined slot where a metal key fits (no flat spot, the shaft is completely round). My question is, will the impeller work with my driveshaft or is there a different impeller part no.?

Every on-line site that I checked showed the wedge type, rather than Woodruff Key. My guess is that you will need to find the slotted impeller to fit the shaft.

Appreciate the reply. I am going to check with my local dealer to see if I can make some headway on the right impeller. I have searched online also and can't come up with the right part no. Too bad I can't get any numbers off of the old one. Oh well.
