on this lil motor, i cant use muffs, it has no spot on the motor for that, instead it has a small plate , about 1 inch tall and 4 inches wide, with 3 small holes, RIGHT next to/above the cavitation plate. no room for muffs. anybody had anything like this, and how in the heck do i rinse out the motor other than standing there and holding hose next to motor with my free hand?!?!?!?!?!?! :)

Hi Mike,
If I recall, the 14 was a "budget" motor that used the old style 18/25hp lower unit with the primary water intake in the exhaust outlet on the underside of the cav plate. Best way to flush is to dunk the unit in a bucket of freshwater and run it....
There is a flush attachment for that style, but the last time I tried to use one it was a bit cumbersome...
- Scott
