Hi Ralba,<br /> I'm not sure about the '96s, but the late '80s models had a significant difference in the intake manifold. The 8hp used more reeds per cylinder and the crankcase intake was larger to accomodate the larger intake plate... No easy way to convert...<br />- Scott
