Can decarbing a motor that presently runs well but hasn't been decarbed in years, cause any problems. I have an 1988 25hp Evinrude with a fair bit of carbon build up, it has never been decarbed to my knowledge.
Thanks

Re: Decarbing

Hi springbok....do it! Won't hurt a thing. And if it hasn't been done for a few years, it's way over due. Just be sure to read and follow the directions on the can.

Springbok:
Decarbing is the way to go. I decarbed my 1994 225 Johnny last week at the marina and you might have thought that I started a forest fire. Smoke all over the place the first time.(I use Seafoam).
Stalker
