If I remember correctly, the older jonnies had some powerpack troubles, you may want to start there. And check all elect.connections that you can find.Charlie

Re: Help '77 johnson 115 died suddenly

Excuse my ignorance, but how can I test thew power pack, and if it needsw replacing who would have a reasonable price?

It was like shutting the key off when it quit.
it turned over but would not fire at any plug.
the engine dosen't have a lot of hours on it, it's been out 2 or 3 times max each summer since bought new in 78 a many years it was never used at all.

Thanks
Joe

Jorx..... Remove the "Black/Yellow wire form the powerpack, then check the ignition (spark). If all is well, replace the ignition switch.

If still no spark, in all probability, the powerpack has failed, in which case, replace it.

Note: Even if a new powerpack does not cure the problem, assuming that the test in the first paragraph resulted in still no spark, it's a good idea to have a spare pack for emergencies.

Let us know what you find.
