96 Evin. no oil light

I have a 96 Evinrude Vindicator 200 and the no oil light has started coming on randomly, sometimes flickering and trying to come on before going out and sometimes it will not go out at all. I know i am getting oil because the motor is smoking and have had it checked out they couldnt get the light to come on but said it was oiling. any ideas thanks in advance

IF there is an oil malfucntion, the NO OIL lite should come on and the horn should sound for about 20 seconds.<br /><br />If you are getting a "flicker", chances are the gauge is faulty. Either way, have it checked out.

Is their anyway i can check the sensor to tell if it is bad, i have premixed the fuel but i can tell the level is droping in my oil tank?
