Tach for 1976 85 V4 Seahorse

What is the best Tach for me to install on this particular motor? There is an old tach on the boat, but I do not know what type of motor was previously on the boat, nor if the old tach even works.

Hooty -- What I want is something cheap and easy :D Seriously, I need some type of tach to help me adjust the idle and gauge the RPMs at WOT (if I can ever achieve WOT). Still working on the motor.

Get tha $36 TinyTach. Call 'em on the fone and tell them what engine you have and how much wire (from engine to tach mount). They're real nice folks and will be glad to help ya out.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

The old tachometer that exists on the boat, I'm curious about that, you say that you don't know if it works or not.<br /><br />Is there a name on that tach? How many wires lead from it, and what color are they? Is there a dial or numbered strip on the back of it, if so, which one..... dial or strip? What numbers are on that dial or strip if one or the other exists?

Sorry, I've been away from computers for a bit. I will check the old tach and let y'all know. Thanks for the heads up on the tiny tach.
