Ok, I put stabil in my 1978 evinrude 55hp, and went to start it, and nothing came out of the pee hole. I now plan on changing the impellor, but I have no time to do so for a couple weeks(xmas vac).
I have not ran my o/b for 2 1/2 months, that is why I added stabil. Should I just drain the carb bowl so it does not gum up(cause they say you should run the motor for 10minutes after adding stabil), or am I okay for a few more weeks? How long does it take for gas to ruin?

brother chris,

You can drain the carb. bowl if you want to.

Stabil will preserve the fuel for several months, if not longer.

Re: Stabil..ity

hello
not knowing what additives are in your fuel I am not sure. here fresh fuel mixed 50:1 with tcwIII oil and stabil lasts 4 to 6 months before leaving varnish on the piston skirts. the key is FRESH gas. you cannot treat fuel that is already 6 months old and expect another 6 months out of it. the problem with old gas in a 2 stroke is two fold. one is it gums up the small passages in the carb causing a lean condition that leads to piston failure. two is it will rapidly varnish/carbon up the piston skirts and ring grooves causing piston failure. so is saving 10 dollars worth of gas worth destroying a motor? your call.
Good luck and keep posting
