im having trouble my gauge was teed into the tell tail line and my pressure is 3-5 psi all the time so i tried teeing into the line that goes from below the water plate bubble to the water control valve my psi is 12-15 at idle anything off idle it drops to 3-5 psi. my water pump is new ,motor isnt overheating, and tell tail seems to be fine.PLEASE HELP

Re: 1989 200 evinrude pressure gauge
Thats what the powerhead sits on.The small hose coming to the water control valve is in the adaptor. There should be another port forward of where that palstic elbow is. That port should have a plug in it. Remove the plug and you can read the pressure from there.Let us know if there isnt a port there.
i took the allen head out and installed a fitting ran the line to it, at an idle i get 3psi i cant run it at WOT untill i go to the lake . but what kind of pressure should i have . also is it OK to maybe swap the two lines going to the adapter? on the other one i was geting 12psi THANK YOU

Re: 1989 200 evinrude pressure gauge
You've got it. 3 or 4 is about right at idle. I'd leave it there. Its the same passage but the control valve isnt messing with the reading. You should be over 18 at about 2000 or so. Mine runs about 28 at wot.
i got the motor on ear muffs its idleing around 2000 RPMs without the prop in the water.thats when im getting the 3psi? at 2500 its 5psi or less . the piss steam is just as good on muffs as in the lake any ideas THANKS again
sorry i was thinking brake lines,if my gauge isnt reading right how can i adjust my jack plate , one last question what is the minimum psi at WOT for this motor . thanks for all yalls help
