kill switch malfunction

the kill switch on our omc control box seems to be stuck. the outboard plugs are not getting any spark - we were having problems with the kill switch such as you could run the boat without it attached. is there any way to override the kill switch so that we can winterize the motor? the control box is old and we think it should be replaced, is it a big job to replace?

the easiest way it to unplug the main harness that will bypass the key switch and the kill switch, from there you can jump start it at the solinoid and just plug the harness back in to shut it off.or disconnect the kill switch from the key switch.

to disconnect the kill switch from the key switch do you need to take the controls completly apart or is there a way to only take apart the key switch to get to the kill switch? someone told us to disconnect the black/yellow wire and try to start the engine, but the wire we found is with 5 others and i don't know how to isolate the wire.

I haven't been in a control box in a while but would suggest that you get a manual if you don't have one.
