Leaving lower unit off for winter

Hey guys, I have to take mine off and do an impeller and all the seals. I will be doing this over the winter and the boat gets stored outside in the cold, is it bad to leave the bottom of the motor apart in the cold for a little while? Thanks, Mike.

The engine isn't affected any more or less by the cold whether the lower unit is on or off. However, I would suggest that you cover the large opening with something to keep out whatever might want to crawl in there.
