Hi!

I recently (with the help of this forum) near-completed a LU re-sealing/overhaul.

I need to pressure test.. I'm having a bear of a time finding the proper tool, however.

Where can I get such a pressure tester? What should I ask for? What would be a reasonable price for one?

Many thanks!
Ken Ameika
Red Bank, NJ

hello
check with stevens instrument company. they make a nice pressue/vacum tester for under a 100 dollars . mity vac makes one but by the time you buy the adapters is about the same price. the mity vac is usefull for other tests as well so it may be the better choice.
good luck and keep posting

The only pump that I am aware of is the one Stevens Experimental Co. makes. The price as I recall is around $65.00. This is one of those special items so they charge accordingly. If it were me, and I did'nt have a pump, I would go for broke, and just keep an eye on the oil. The only thing is, if you have a leak the pump would show you where it is.

Gosh, Gentlemen. That was a *quick* response. I guess we're all playing with computers since the weather turned cold. :)

I appreciate the help!

--Ken

Head to the nearest NAPA auto parts store and tell them you need a pressure/vacuum tester. Tell them what you are using it for, so they know what you're talking about. You will have to get some attachments, but they are cheap. These are manual units, not electric. They have a gauge to show pressure and vacuum, too.

Something like this:

web page

Check around for a LubriMatic "LUBE TUBE" Code 11252. The fitting on it is perfect for the pressure test and you can use the unit for your gear lube.
Dealers, auto parts stores, and WalMart usually have them.

Again, outstanding. I have both of these stores very nearby.

Further, the NAPA part is very reasonable.

Thank you again for the advice.

Best Regards,
Ken Ameika
