Sounds like spot of trouble there.Nothing serious though.

First things first.Get a manual.In the bottom lefthand side of this page you can find one.If you are used to technical manuals and working with machinery get either a clymer or a seloc.If that is not your strongest point concentrate on volume 1 Seloc.It will help you in a great way.

The coughing probably means that you are running your engine too lean. Choke the engine a bit so the mix becomes a bit richer and see what happens.If that does not help you may have to clean your carburator and the filters.Follow the instructions in the manual and keep us informed.
