64 johnson 40hp short to long

Manual shifting. I have the leg extension and a long shaft. Do I replace the shifter with a long one or just add an extension. Also need to know what to use to extend the 2 water tubes.<br /><br />I have searced iboats for these parts with no luck so if anyone has them please chime in.<br /><br />TY

You ned two (2) long water tubes OMC part number 305493, and one (1) long brass shift extension OMC part number 304081.<br /><br />The tubes are about $19.00 ea, with the shift extension about $65.00.<br /><br />In place of the brass shift connector, you could install the longer lower unit shift rod if you can locate one.
