Just baught a 1976 johnson 70hp seahorse. It needs a foot, what years, and hp range will fit? Also what should i expect to pay for this foot, and what should i look out for before buying it? I do alredy plan on resealing, and installing a new water pump before i install. Baught it for 40.00 from a reliable friend, and he says it ran perfectly, so i don't have much into this. Thanks for the replies..

Great little motor! Any 20" (assuming yours is) 3 cylinder non-electric shift (must have a shift rod -- not wires) gearcase with a 4 spline driveshaft will work. Take a look at your shift linkage on the powerhead. If you get a lower that uses a different arrangement, then buy the linkage from the powerhead too. The early ones shifted backwards from the newer ones.

Good luck!
