i found a 1985 evin. 150 to replace 1995 evin 150, i thought i might get away without changing the controls, the '85 has sidemount controls and a tilt motor box. my boat is a center console, are the controls easily adaptable for these two year motors?? the guy thats selling the motor seems to think that i might not have to change the controls. i hope not, does anyone have any input on this? thanks

this engine happens to be a 150- 85 evin. ser # i don't have yet- it seems to be in pretty good shape and the compression in all the cylinders were 100- started easily enough- not on a boat now- we are suppose to pick it up today 1400 dollars, the guy has the controls too, we told him if we don't need the controls he could have them back-pretty good price??- my other motor, in the posting -"motor shot"-we were thinking about having it rebuilt -one mechanic said it may not be worth it, so either i might play or i would part it out.

Hello<br />I would spend the 1400 on rebuilding the 98 model. they do make a kit to adapt the 1995 and up modular wiring to the pre 95 red plug engines. I dont trust used outboards as I see to many dead ones. good luck and keep us p[osted
