Before I start with the current problem, a brief history of the motor. The entire time I have had it, about once a year I have to go through the entire motor and tighten every bolt that is screwed into the block of the engine. I don't know if this is because of a factory mess-up or if it because I am a waterfowl hunter and it is used in weather where it goes from 10 or 20 degrees to opperating temp. several times a day for three or four months a year. For whatever reason every few months I take the hood off and two or three bolts will have backed all the way out and will be lying loose under the hood and the very tightest ones will take atleast a turn or two. That problem is what has caused my current, larger problem. Because of bolts coming out I now have a gasket that has givin way. I don't know what the name of the gasket is but I can explain where it is. If I am standing behind my motor with the front of the motor pointing away from me, it is on the left side of the motor. It is under a large square plate. I was thinking that maybe it was the exhaust manifold gasket because exaust(Old nasty, black, burned oil, and smoke) and water come out from around the plate when the motor "coughs", a "cough" which developed when the problem developed. I have looked it over and know that I can fix it with a little help. The most help I need though is "What is the name of the gasket?" If I knew the name then I could order it and save the cost of a manual. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Also if anyone is a "walking manual", What should those bolts be torqued to, and gasket sealer or not? Thanks, Luke.

What I usually do is I go to where they sell parts to the engine that I working on then I ask if they sell parts for my engine I tell them what I looking for and they will usually have a manual and will go to the place I described and show me a diagram and I will look and find my part and tell them to order it and how much. You could even ask them other questions and they might be able to answer. But if your not living near a place where they sell engines parts for your engine then I did't help you any by telling you this. Maybe this might help you some It would be even better if you take the part that you need the gasket for and show then you need a gasket for this part and if they have it ask them what should I torque the bolts to. Ask is there a<br />sealer I could use with this gasket. Usually just the gasket alone will be fine. A sealer in some instances should not be used at all.
