Identify boat motor year by photo?

Have a chance to purchase a used boat ( Catalina 16') with a Johnson 70hp, model# J70ELIM, Serial # B135609 motor. Can anyone tell me what year this motor is and if they still manufacture parts for it?

Cletus...like Middlegroung said, yer' missin' a letter in the model number.

not sure bout the year, but you should be able to get parts though.

I would suspect you are missing the C in your model number.<br /><br />Also judging by your engine cover I suspect your engine to be a 1981. This I also arrive at once the C is put into your model number. 70ELCIM.<br /><br />TMD

went today and looked at some at the marina and yours look like two i saw rhat were 1981
